Shawna Doriot-Krienitz

Psychotherapist, Art Therapist, Adjunct Clinical Director

Shawna began her journey in the field of counseling upon entering Mount Mary University’s esteemed art therapy graduate program in 2010. While there, she was given the opportunity to put theory to practice and worked with adults suffering from dual diagnoses in a hospital and residential setting. After graduating in 2013, Shawna continued to work with adolescents and adults suffering from a wide array of diagnoses in both a residential and private practice setting. In the fall of 2013, she joined the team at Evolve to work primarily with people suffering from eating disorders. Shawna has been with Evolve since shortly after its grand opening and is excited to be a part of its continuing growth as part of the leadership team.

Shawna is a licensed counselor, registered art therapist, and certified eating disorder specialist who has experience working with those suffering from eating disorders, anxiety disorders, depression, self-harm, body image issues and adjustment disorders. Her theoretical approach to therapy is integrative, drawing from various schools of thought and will add an experiential component to the treatment plan based on the relevance to the topic at hand and the preference of the client involved. Shawna genuinely cares about her clients’ well-being and wants to help them get to a place of physical and emotional wellbeing.

Shawna has a service dog, Buck, who comes to work with her and has declared himself the official greeter. You can read more about this special member of the Evolve team in his bio.
